Truckers for Children is an organization that was developed to help provide
financial assistance for children with special needs. These special needs can
vary from the purchase of a bicycle that the family of a child can not afford,
to medicine or other medical needs.
The organization was founded by a
Marten Transportation
driver, Patrick Shadix, in 2008. And since it's inception, Pat has had the
privilege of helping several families through the generosity of other truck
drivers who have donated to the Truckers for Children organization.

A note from Pat
My name is Patrick Shadix; I am a driver for Marten
Transportation, truck number 7234. The reason I'm writing this letter today is to tell you about
an organization I have started to help underprivileged children. My goal is to
help deserving children with things they need, may never be able to get, or to
experience something they may not normally have a chance at. Example: To have a
new bicycle, baseball glove, go to six flags, play little league, or possibly
some much needed medication etc.
It started about 6 months ago, when a friend of mine became
ill. I saw how he was struggling financially, and his children were doing
without. Example: His daughter had played softball for years, however
after his illness, there wasn’t enough money for her to play. I donated
the money for her to play. This made a child very happy.
I am asking for your help by the way of a donation, and
would also like to ask you to help spread the word to other drivers about my
foundation. I have talked to several drivers, Marten and other, whom have
said they would be more than willing to help by way of payroll deduction or
mailing in a donation.
